I'm just coming to the end of my third build and I'm still impressed with the quality of what can be easily achieved from this kit. Parts with little flash that go together exceedingly easily. I don't particularly like the build sequence shewn by small diagrams and would suggest adding the end platforms before you try to place the bufferbeams. If you try making up the solebar/bufferbeam square as suggested the odds are it'll fall apart as you try to handle. All this need to be done while the joins hold but are still malleable. With a few minor additions, like platform grab rails & brake release lever these will sit alongside Bachmann and not look out of place. How do I know ? I have 5 Bachmann & 3 Dapol, Club members really can't pick out from a moving train. I'll agree the Bachmann has more plumbing underneath with higher detail plumbing below the solebar, so you do get extra for your £40+ as opposed to the sub £9 kit (Oct 2022 price comparison). Mine run very well at the head of a 21 wagon train on our club test track, where the track quality leaves much to be desired. No derailmets at all. I do always use Peco dovetail NEM mountings with Bachmann 36-061 couplers, quality at this stage pays dividends.
